Today, Tomorrow & Always

Each year, millions of people experience difficulties with behavioral health. If these problems persist, they can affect relationships, performance at work or school or even the ability to complete everyday tasks and functions.

If you or a loved one is struggling and in need of behavioral health services, Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital provides treatment, resources and support.

Through a partnership between Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Universal Health Services, we will provide inpatient and outpatient services for patients living with mental illness.

Our Values Drive Our Care

Members of each patient’s treatment team follow our core set of values, which are essential to our care and reflected in our practices. We treat each person who seeks our treatment with dignity and respect — from the non-stigmatizing, person-centered language we use to the trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy we practice.

We listen to each patient without judgment and want all to know that recovery is possible for every person in our care. There is hope for tomorrow.

Social Worker Kristin finishes up the week with more inspiring thoughts on how she came to the Social Work profession:

"I think my life experiences molded me into a social worker before I knew what that role entailed. As I aged I wanted to be many things; a lawyer, a model, a journalist, or a news broadcaster. I had so many interests, but one thing that I always wanted to do was advocate for others. I want to help people recognize their worth, discover their full potential and to be their voice until they had the courage to use their own. We are catalysts for change."

Thank you, Kristin! We have been so inspired by the drive and compassion all of our social workers have shared with us this week. Check back next week to hear from more of our team!

Today, Heather shares her thoughts on what it means to her to be a Social Worker:

"To me, being a Social Worker is about standing beside individuals who are struggling and helping them to understand that their struggles do not define them. It is not my job to be their voice, but to help them find theirs again! I am humbled every day that individuals allow me to be a small part of their journey." ~ Heather

Thank you, Heather! Your work to empower individuals is inspiring and we are so happy to have you on our team.
