Today, Tomorrow & Always

Each year, millions of people experience difficulties with behavioral health. If these problems persist, they can affect relationships, performance at work or school or even the ability to complete everyday tasks and functions.

If you or a loved one is struggling and in need of behavioral health services, Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital provides treatment, resources and support.

Through a partnership between Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Universal Health Services, we will provide inpatient and outpatient services for patients living with mental illness.

Our Services

Dedicated to the Community We Serve

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital is the only freestanding psychiatric hospital in Lancaster County.

We are striving not only to provide excellent behavioral health services, but also to be a leader in the promotion of wellness, support the education of behavioral health professionals, and improve the Lancaster community’s understanding of mental health.

Penn Medicine Lancaster Values

Our Values Drive Our Care

Members of each patient’s treatment team follow our core set of values, which are essential to our care and reflected in our practices. We treat each person who seeks our treatment with dignity and respect — from the non-stigmatizing, person-centered language we use to the trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy we practice.

We listen to each patient without judgment and want all to know that recovery is possible for every person in our care. There is hope for tomorrow.

Social Feed

Happy World Social Work Day! As March is also Social Work Month, our social work team would like to share a bit about what their role means to them and why they find their work inspiring. To kick things off, we have thoughts from our Director of Social Work, Karen:

"Being a Social Worker allows me to encourage, empower, and hopefully make a positive difference in other’s lives."

Thank you, Karen! We know you're definitely making a positive difference in many peoples' lives and we appreciate you for it. Check back through the end of the month as we feature more of our social work team!

Happy Expressive Arts Week from our amazing Expressive Therapy team! We're fortunate to have this compassionate, creative bunch here to help our patients find healing in new ways.

Our Music Therapists, Andrea and Allison, share their love of music with patients and help them to bring out their own creativity through instruments. Emma, Dance and Movement Therapist, helps patients find the strength and freedom they have in their own bodies, and Karen, Art Therapist, helps patients express themselves in new and colorful ways. Thank you all for all that you bring to our community!
